Welcome to Summerhouse Farm and Grinnel Hill Dog Fields

We have two safe, secure, and beautiful dog fields on the Herts, Cambs border for you to exercise or train your dog(s).
Both fields are available to hire by the hour, our enclosed dog fields nestle in open farmland with lots of sky and commanding views over the Hertfordshire (to the south) and Cambridgeshire (to the north) countryside.

Both fields are beautifully appointed and fully fenced and have been purpose built to keep our four-legged friends safe and secure.

Summerhouse Farm Dog Field

Located at Summerhouse Farm off New Road, Melbourn, SG8 6DL.

1.5 acres of open space with play/agility equipment Fencing and gates of 5ft 2in high. Car park immediately adjacent with double gated pedestrian entrance to the field. Dogs will need to be on a lead from the carpark to the dog field entrance.

A maximum of 10 dogs are allowed for any one session. No other properties immediately adjacent to the dog field. However, Summerhouse Farm is a working farm and seasonal machinery may be working in adjacent fields. Ideal for individuals, larger groups or dog training sessions and dog training classes and socials.

No restriction on number of vehicles.

Grinnel Hill Dog Field

Located on Land opposite Grinnel Hill, off Public Byway No 12.

Directions: Postcode: SG8 6DJ. Turn onto London Way, at the fork turn right directly after the safety mirror. The dog field is the third entrance on the left.

2 acres of open space with play/agility equipment Fencing and gates of 6ft high On site enclosed double gated hardstanding parking area for up to a maximum of 2 cars. Direct access from parking area to dog field.

A maximum of 10 dogs are allowed for any one session. The neighbouring property does have dogs, these can be heard barking occasionally on entrance to the field, if you have a very reactive dog, please use Summerhouse Dog Field.

Property border is shielded by neighbouring leylandii hedge & green netting. Ideal for locals to walk to via the adjoining footpaths, individual sessions, small groups or dog walkers with multiple dogs in 1 vehicle.

There is a restriction on the number of vehicles – 2 vehicles maximum per session.

This field is not suitable for low vehicles as it is a byway not a public highway and is maintained as such.

1-4 Dogs - £10.50 (50 minutes)

5-10 Dogs - £12.50 (50 minutes)

Each session booked is for 50 minutes, starting on the hour. This allows 10 minutes for change over to reduce any confrontations for nervous dogs or owners.

Please arrive and leave the field promptly at the start and finish of your appointment times to avoid crossovers.

Please note, we require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to refund or reschedule bookings and a maximum of 10 dogs on the field at any one time.

Terms of Use

By booking to use our dog field you acknowledge and agree to our terms of use:

Use of the dog field is entirely at your own risk. The landowner accepts no liability for injury or death of any person or dog or for damage to any property. We also accept no liability for losses or liability incurred by the customer while using the field.
This field can only be used by prior appointment. No unauthorised use will be permitted.
The field fencing just over 5ft high, whilst the field is secure, it may not be secure if you have a dog that is able to jump high fences. Please always keep watch over your dog(s).
Dogs must always be supervised. We DO NOT take responsibility for lost dogs.
Accompanying children must always be supervised.
All dogs must be vaccinated.
If your dog is showing any signs of illness such as diarrhoea, sickness, coughing or any other contagious illness you must NOT use this field.
You agree to clean up any dog poo and place in bins provided – bag it and bin it.
Do not allow your dog to dig holes in the surface or near the fence, if unavoidable please report immediately.
Do not climb the fence or cause damage to the fencing, please report any observations of damage immediately.
Do not exercise your dog(s) outside the dog field.
Do not leave your dog(s) unattended at any time, both in the field or in a vehicle.
Please arrive and leave the field promptly at the start and finish of your appointment times to avoid crossovers.
Ensure all gates are closed and locked when leaving the field.’
